New iPhone app and new menu about to be released!
So we've got two big releases coming for you guys.
1. We're finally ready to release our new iPhone app.
2. We're releasing the ability to customize your menu's on the iPad.
The iPhone will connect to all the same programs the iPad would connect with (Solidworks, Sketchup, Maya, 3DS Max, and Rhino). You can now use the iPhone and iPod to navigate 3D models, pull renders, and sketch over top of the main screen. This is great when you're doing creative sessions with someone else, because you can draw on their screen. We've modelled the multi-control aspect of the app after a "pass the mic" system when multiple people are connected, so when someone is controlling the model, other people are blocked until he/she is finished. This goes for the iPad app also, as the iPhone and iPad app both work with our server. For the first time, the CAD software suites we are plugged into are now interactive. Check out our new features page for more information.
Here's a demo video demo of how the iPhone app works:
We're also ready to release our new customization feature on the iPad. You can now activate a keyboard command in your 3D program, and it will automatically queue up on the iPad so you can put it in a menu. It will work for all the software suites we support except 3DS Max (The sdk doesn't allow us the access we needed).
We recently demo'd the software to a few architects at Frank Gehry's office and they were really excited to see what we were building. Though we're still waiting for Dassault Systemes to give us access to CATIA so we can plug into Digital Project...
We've made a quick tutorial video of how to customize your rings to make things easy, you can see it here:
